چکیده

Epistasis that may explain a large portion of the phenotypic variation for complex economic traits of animals has been ignored in many genetic association studies. A Baysian method was introduced to draw inferences about multilocus genotypic effects based on their marginal posterior distributions by a Gibbs sampler. A simulation study was conducted to provide statistical powers under various unbalanced designs by using this method. Data were simulated by combined designs of number of loci, within genotype variance, and sample size in unbalanced designs with or without null combined genotype cells. Mean empirical statistical power was estimated for testing posterior mean estimate of combined genotype effect. A practical example for obtaining empirical statistical power estimates with a given sample size was provided under unbalanced designs. The empirical statistical powers would be useful for determining an optimal design when interactive associations of multiple loci with complex phenotypes were examined.

Optimal Sample Size for Testing Multilocus Genotypic Effects by a Bayesian Method Using a Gibbs Sampler

The potential epistasis that may explain a large portion of the phenotypic variation for complex traits has been ignored in many genetic association studies. A Baysian method using a Gibbs sampler was introduced to draw inferences about multilocus genotypic effects based on their marginal posterior distributions by a Gibbs sampler. This method would be applied to studies for interaction effects...

Bayesian Inference on Multilocus Genotypic Effects Using a Gibbs Sampler

Simultaneous analysis of multiple genetic variants is an essential strategy for understanding genetic dissection of complex traits, focusing epistasis along with additive and dominance effects of individual genes. Although phenotypic variation for complex traits might be largely explained by epistasis, most analyses have excluded the possibility of epistasis, especially with lack of individual ...

Computer Adaptive Testing with Empirical Prior Information: a Gibbs Sampler Approach for Ability Estimation

In this paper, empirical prior information is introduced in computer adaptive testing. Despite its increasing use, the method suffers from a weak measurement precision, especially under particular conditions. Therefore, it is shown how the inclusion of background variables both in the initialization and the ability estimation is able to improve the accuracy of ability estimates. In particular, ...

On Selecting the Best Treatment in a Generalized Linear Model

Abstract: The problem of selecting the best treatment is studied under generalized linear models. For certain balanced designs, it is shown that simple rules are Bayes with respect to any non-informative prior on the treatment e¤ects under any monotone invariant loss. When the nuisance parameters such as block e¤ects are assumed to follow a uniform (improper) prior or a normal prior, Bayes rule...
